A GIFT OF LOVE, FROM THE DO MORE FOUNDATION

The DO MORE FOUNDATION delivered more than 2500 gifts to underprivileged children during the festive season – all because of business and people working together to #DoMore.

Between 1 November and 14 December 2018, 12 corporates took part in the Foundation’s #DoMoreLove campaign by collecting new toys for children who otherwise might not receive a gift. At RCL FOODS alone, 8 sites in four provinces took part in the challenge – including 100 children of employees from the company’s Westville head office who eagerly helped wrap gifts for a day. In total, R125 500 worth of toys were collected and wrapped, using a kilometre of wrapping paper and just under 1500 volunteer hours.

The gifts were distributed to 39 organisations dedicated to young children, including various early childhood development (ECD) centres in Hammarsdale, the Durban Child & Youth Care Centre, St Martin’s Diocesan Home for Children, St Theresa’s Children’s Home, St Thomas Children’s Home, William Clark Gardens, Vukukhanye ECD Centre, Inqolobane Children’s Home, Adopt-a-child, Kamohlelo Children’s Home, Susan Lapoorta Children’s Home and others.

“This was a great example of a non-profit organisation bringing business and people together to #DoMore for those who don’t have even the most basic items, let alone a Christmas gift and the joy it brings. Reaching out in this way does something for the givers too, and we wish all our #DoMoreLove partners as much love and joy as they helped spread this holiday season,” said DO MORE FOUNDATION Executive Warren Farrer.
